Apple Rumour Mill Runs Hot

With just four weeks until the annual Macworld geekfest in San Francisco, the rumour mill is running hot with predictions about what new goodies Apple boss Steve Jobs will announce. Apple plays its cards very close to its chest and never issues so much as a hint of what's to come but this doesn't stop pundits, fans, experts and those who claim to be "insiders" from stoking the fires of the Macworld guessing game.
The odds-on favourite, however, is a super slim "ultra-portable" laptop with a 31cm screen and a solid state (flash memory) hard drive to reduce size and weight while boosting battery life. Also high on the list is a 3G version of the iPhone, which would be fully compatible with Australian networks (the current import-only model is stuck on the much slower GSM network). Such a device isn't expected until mid-year but Jobs might pre-announce this just as he did with the original iPhone.
